TVNZ have announced plans to re-brand the channel TVONE to TVNZ 1.
The national broadcaster announced the bold move during their new season launch which took place this afternoon.
The network changes follow the new-look Breakfast crew debut, featuring hosts Hilary Barry, Jack Tame, Brodie Kane, Sam Wallace and Daniel Faitaua. Photo: TVNZ.
Following in the footsteps of rival network Newshub - formerly TV3 - TV2 will be renamed TVNZ 2 and One News will become 1News.
"Our focus at TVNZ is all about sharing the moments that matter to New Zealanders," says the network's chief executive Kevin Kenrick in a statement issued earlier today.
"We know that different moments matter to different New Zealanders. To better understand these differences, we've just completed our most in-depth research study into viewer behaviour, and this is shaping our future thinking”
The network's channels will effectively be renamed TVNZ 1, TVNZ 2, TVNZ DUKE, 1 NEWS NOW or TVNZ OnDemand.
The changes will take effect October 1.

...won't make the slightest bit of difference to the programmes being presented. For example, the so-called all new Breakfast show is a poor quality, immature presentation with presenters more suited to a childrens programme. TVNZ is flailing around in a desperate effort to somehow match TV3 and Paul Henry and that show is not worth watching. But I do know where the OFF button is...!

Exactly, why. Sorry, tried watching breakfast again with new presenters for a week, dont like them at all. Back to Paul Henry we go, love his show.

....kinda...so what?....so Kevin Kendrick has said; "Our focus at TVNZ is all about sharing the moments that matter to New Zealanders,"..well YAY :(..what has changed...programme quality..nope still going down..we are shown an image of the "Breakfast" crew..(yawn) apart from overpaid "Hills" being bought by TVNZ, and Jack (I think I am great but actually a birk) Tame, absolutely NOTHING has changed..nothing!..(well, only slightly more interesting than the previous presenters)...heck guys..forget the early slot..that's well and truly sewn up..!!..
