Still no sign of Lucas

The search for missing teenager Lucas Cochrane is entering in its fourth day as searchers prepare to search the Whitianga township for the second time.

The 19-year-old was last seen at a function at the Whitianga Fire Station just before midnight on Saturday.


Lucas Cochrane went missing in Whitianga on Saturday night.

He had been with a group of mates in the Coromandel supporting a friend who had lost his father.

The group were staying at a rented bach in Whitianga for the Saturday night event - a remembrance service for a local firefighter's family member.

He was last seen, he was wearing a black t-shirt, dark blue jeans, black peaked cap and white Nike shoes with red and blue on them.

More than 30 people have been involved in the search for Lucas and 15 LandSAR members will be search inner township again from Lucas' last known point.

'The Police National Dive Squad will be searching the waterways and Surf Lifesaving will be assisting the police dive squad with this search phase,” says a statement from police today.

'The Coastguard will be assessing the water currants to see if this will assist with the search.

'Police are continuing to speak with family members and associates of Lucas.”
