A man with links to the Bay of Plenty is wanted by police.

Akatai Hehepa Purua-King has two warrants for his arrest on charges of burglary and unlawfully taking a motor vehicle.

Akatai Hehepa Purua-King is wanted on theft related charges.

Purua-King is described as a male Maori, about 162cm tall and of thin to medium build.

Police say the 25-year-old may be driving a black Subaru Impreza.

He is also known at Joseph Paka or King.

'Police warn he could be armed and he's considered dangerous, so he should not be approached.”

People with information about his whereabouts are asked to contact their nearest police station.
