Stolen dog found, but no sign of ute

Possum the 'much loved male miniature Fox Terrier” who was stolen along with a blue 2005 Nissan Navara registration DAG615 from Mount Maunganui on September 8 – has been found.

Possum was located safe and well Tuesday afternoon on the roadside, State Highway 1, just south of Turangi.

His identity was confirmed by his microchip and his owner is going to uplift him now, says police. The stolen vehicle DAG615 remains outstanding.

Possum, age 5, was wearing a black collar and described earlier as 'very friendly and would go with anyone”.

'Further to this, Possum is Keenan's bed mate. Keenan Alexander was injured in a rugby accident a month ago and at this stage is a quadriplegic."

Police have thanked the public for its help in locating Possum in a post on their Facebook page on Tuesday afternoon.

They're also appealing to anyone who has information about Keenan's stolen ute to contact Tauranga Police on 07 577 4300.

Alternatively, information can be left anonymously via the Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 line.
