Scattered rain throughout the week

Showers are being forecast for the Bay of Plenty for the next three days as spring weather takes hold of the region.

The MetService is forecasting today to be mostly fine with evening showers.

Tomorrow is looking pretty much the same, with showers and northeasterlies developing in the afternoon.

As we get to the middle of the week, more showers are expected for Wednesday and a cloudy day is expected for Thursday.

Generally settled weather is expected this coming week, giving people a welcome respite from the recent wind and rain, says MetService's Derek Holland.

However, a trough crossing the north of the country later Tuesday and Wednesday will bring a period of rain there. From later Wednesday, another ridge develops, and remains slow-moving over New Zealand through to Friday.

'The ridge is expected to give periods of sunny weather for many later this week.”
