Ticket scalping warning

People buying online tickets for local events are being advised to check they are paying through authorised agencies.

Baycourt manager Megan Peacock-Coyle says tickets for some of Baycourt's events are being sold at inflated prices on overseas websites.

Baycourt is warning of their tickets being sold at inflated prices by overseas companies.

'These companies buy the tickets legally then on-sell them at higher prices with huge booking fees. Customers will end up paying far too much, and in the event of a cancellation, Ticketek will not refund them.” Ticketek is the only company authorised to sell tickets online for Baycourt.

Two forthcoming events, Grease and Celtic Illusion, are currently being sold on the Viagogo website at inflated prices, says Megan.

'The Baycourt website directs all online transactions to the Ticketek website. If you're booking tickets for a Baycourt show over the internet please ensure you're paying via Ticketek.” Megan says the problem is not unique to Baycourt.

She says all ticketing companies are aware this happens to popular events.

'In a way it further validates the calibre of the shows we are bringing to Baycourt. But we don't want anyone to be cheated by this.

'Ticketek is the only authorised online seller for Baycourt shows. If you are unsure, please give our Box Office a call on 577 7188.”
