Update: No further delays on SH29A

Update 1.45pm: Work on relocating power transmission line on State Highway 29A near the Maungatapu roundabout, Tauranga has been completed says New Zealand Transport Agency.

Motorists can now use SH29A as per usual with speed restrictions and lane closures removed.

Earlier 6.45am: Motorists are being reminded of possible delays on State Highway 29A near the Maungatapu roundabout, Tauranga this morning.

In a media statement New Zealand Transport Agency say power transmission line relocation work began at 5am this morning and will continue through to 6pm.

Motorists can expect 30km/h speed restrictions and lane closures during this times with manual traffic control at selected times. The Agency says motorists should avoid the area if possible.

An alternative route for motorists is The Tauranga Harbour Bridge and SH29 or Cambridge and Moffat Roads to Bethlehem on SH2.

Motorists using SH29A west of Oropi Rd, Poike Rd and Welcome Bay Road via Hairini Street are not affected by the work.
