An application by SunLive to take photos of Te Pere in the dock was opposed by his lawyer David Bates, and declined by Judge Stephen Coyle.

Te Pere was arrested by Tauranga police only hours after his alleged robbery of the Greerton Lotto shop using a hammer.

He is also accused of robberies of the Cameronian Dairy on July 17, and the 14th Avenue Dairy on July 18.

Victims say two men were involved in both the Cameronian and 14th Avenue dairy robberies and that a hammer and a wheelbrace were used to threaten staff.
