Steamers to play at Domain

Tickets for this year's eagerly-anticipated Mitre 10 Cup rugby matches at the Tauranga Domain and Rotorua International Stadium are on sale now.

Bay of Plenty Rugby Union chief executive Mike Rogers says they're excited to be returning to the domain when the Steamers take on Taranaki and Otago during the Mitre 10 cup later this year.

The Steamers will make a welcome return to Tauranga Domain this season. File.

'We are pleased to be able to provide the Rotorua community with the opportunity to support three superb matches against Northland, Auckland and Manawatu,” says Mike.

'We have worked hard with our respective councils in both Tauranga and Rotorua to deliver quality game day experiences and allow us to provide our communities with affordable pricing so that everyone has the opportunity to attend.

'Their support is superb and it is great to have them so active in the community.” The Steamers will return to Tauranga Domain after a triumphant return to the ground last season.

Mike says it is great to see the Steamers have a number of afternoon games this year.

'This is perfect for families to join our rugby enthusiasts and support the Steamers.”

BOPRU will be offering two special ticketing offers for both our Tauranga and Rotorua communities. Tauranga Junior Rugby Clubs and Rotorua Schools will both receive a discounted ticketing offer. Talk to your local club or school for their discounted ticketing offer.

Tickets are available for purchase online, at the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union offices, in the University of Waikato Adams Centre for High Performance, Mount Maunganui, and at the Rotorua Convention Centre, Fenton St, Rotorua.

Plenty of parking buildings within walking distance and handy to town for a nice meal and drink afterwards. Way better atmosphere than Baypark where seats are also hard and generally covered with dirt.Good call BOPRFU and TCC!!!

Get on down

There is all of tauranga CBD to park in, all within a very easy walk. The stands for the last game were not there not full (if a stand is your thing) and it is seriously way easier than Baypark and more pleasant

Baypark?

has been abandoned is that it? Looks like another TCC melon that is about to mature and explode in their faces again.

Baypark NOT abandoned

Baypark has NOT been abandoned, just abused. This is just part of the manipulation process in an effort to destroy the Domain with an embarrassing so called boutique rugby stadium to stroke the ego of a few latte drinkers at the expense of home openers who can't afford the ticket prices, let along the drinks after. The future for our growing city has to be a 30,000 seat stadium at Baypark, in the company of an accommodation facility and expanded sports / events options.

that is your opinion sir, but I beg to differ, as a rugby stadium "BayPark" is the most piquant on the tree....and I value where I spend my entertainment dollar and can assure you I would not " cross the road" to watch any ball sport at facilities which are 3rd world, and I can also assure you a latte or a cheeky Chardonnay are not on my agenda, I want to be able to watch a game in relative comfort, not be assaulted with concrete seats, the smells of urine and greasy food, it's an embarrassment!!!, for you sir with your undisguised love of Motorsport it may suit ( and does) a brilliant job as a " hoon haven", but for watching rugby?, go put your head under a bonnet!, your bias is also understandable.
