An earthquake was detected north of Taupo last night says a report from GeoNet.
The quake was located about 5km north of Taupo and struck at 7.01pm. It measured just 2.8 on the Richter scale and was at a depth of on 6km.

Having a bit of a boil up. pretty common just hang around for a few days and bound to feel one
