Second city dairy robbed

UPDATED 3.30PM: Police are hunting two men, one armed with a weapon, who robbed the 14th Avenue Dairy in Tauranga South this afternoon.

Detective Sergeant Alan Kingsbury says the dairy's owner was uninjured but left shaken after the two men entered the store and confronted him at about 1.30pm.

'The offenders demanded cash, and left the dairy with cash and cigarettes. They left in a vehicle which was described as a dark-coloured saloon vehicle,” he says.

Police are appealing to anyone with information that could help with their investigation to call Tauranga Police on 07 577 4300.

Information can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Police have confirmed the robbery of another dairy in Tauranga.

This afternoon the 14th Ave Dairy in Tauranga South became the second dairy to be robbed in 24 hours.

The alleged incident comes less than 24 hours after two men are said to have robbed a dairy on Cameron Road yesterday evening.

Police say two men wearing masks and armed with a hammer walked into the dairy and stole the cashier's till at 5.30pm on Sunday.

A small amount of money and tobacco is also said to have been stolen.

Police are still looking for the two men.

Gee they must know they will be caught , and for the little amount of cash in a dairy The judges have to get harder so it really puts them off This and home invasions must make it so hard for the people that have had it happen them to live a normal life as they would always be worrying

to put honest money in ones pocket, don't now how people that rob people live with the guilt, hopefully security footage helps.

Despite the popular perception, harsher penalties don't actually decrease crime. What DOES decrease crime is improved solution rate. It's kind of crazy to think you can pick up a hammer and demand money, but if they get away with it, they will keep doing it. The Police really need support here and these muppets need to be caught and have time to reflect on the stupidity of their action. They should also have to make reparation, but they probably won't... THAT's an area that the Law SHOULD address.
