Police say Alan may well be in a confused state. The search has involved LandSAR volunteers from Taupo and Turangi, the Taupo Civil Defence Response Team, Taupo Rural Fire and Police SAR dogs from Taupo and Rotorua.

On Friday the Greenlea Rescue helicopter was used to search forestry and farmland near Alan's home at Bonshaw Park - a rural subdivision of lifestyle blocks about 6km east of Taupo.

Senior Constable Barry Shepherd of Taupo Police thanked local residents for their assistance as searchers experienced challenging weather conditions in difficult terrain.

Police were asking anyone who lives nearby to check properties for any sightings of Alan.

Anyone with information can contact Taupo police on 07 378 6060.
