Update: Ice warning on parts of SH2

Ice warings for motorist travelling in the Karanga Hake Gorge on SH2 have been lifted.

New Zealand Transport Agency has advised the public the ice has melted in the areas reported on earlier.

Earlier 6am: Bay of Plenty motorist travelling in the Karangahake Gorge are being advised to drive with 'extra care” due to ice.

The New Zealand Transport Agency says ice has formed on State Highway 2 Paeroa to Waihi in the Karangahake Gorge.

Motorist travelling along this stretch of road should drive to the conditions and with extra caution until further notice.

Meanwhile, motorist travelling on SH29, from Tauranga to Te Poi could experience some delays due to road works.

The Agency says the road work is tree felling between the SH29, SH29a and SH36 intersection and the Cambridge Road intersection. Lane Diversion and manual traffic control shall be in place from 7am to 5pm today.
