Fatal crash information plea

Police continue to investigate the fatal crash which took the lives of four young people near Hamilton Airport on Friday night.

Lance Tyrone Robinson, 28, of Waipa, Paul De Silva, 20, of Waipa, Hannah Lei Strickett-Craze, 24, of Waipa, and 19-year-old Jason McCormick Ross, of Taranaki, were killed when their white Nissan Skyline sedan collided with a Toyota van on the southbound lane of State Highway 3, just before 10pm.

Four people died in a crash in the Waikato on Friday night.

Detective Sergeant Mata John says the public has been very supportive of the investigation to date but there is a long way to go to establish exactly what lead up to this tragedy.

Inquiries have revealed that prior to the collision a white sports car – a Nissan Skyline - with the victims in was travelling north towards Hamilton.

It collided with a van heading south.

The driver of the van is recovering in Waikato Hospital.

'We would like to hear from a woman driving a red car on the night who stopped at the scene as she may have additional information to assist in the inquiry,” says Mata.

'We're also interested to hear from anyone who has information about a white hatchback or similar car that may have been travelling with the white Nissan Skyline involved in the crash.

'The driver of that vehicle needs to come forward as we believe they will have information that can assist in piecing together the circumstances of that night.”
