'Illume is a fun, free, family-friendly event held over the winter school holidays and this year's festival is shaping up to be the best yet,” says Illume organiser Sandra Wilson.

Kicking off the Friday and Saturday nights will be markets featuring food, arts, crafts and other goodies from 5.30pm.

Friday night will see Coromandel Town's Kapanga Road lit up with spectacular lanterns, light features and projections, plus music performed by a selection of bands.

Then on Saturday, along with the road being lit up again and live music the night will feature a street parade, the Powerco fireworks display, plus entertainment from The Twisty Twins, Robotman and lots of other entertainers.

The KidZone will also be open both nights and will feature special guests, a talent show, glowing ring toss, night bowling, mini sleigh tug and snow balling from 5.30pm.
