Officers and dog units were seen at an address where the shooting victim lives in Henderson Crescent about 7.30pm, but police can't confirm if this is where the man was shot.

As a result of the shooting, police have launched an investigation into the incident.

'Police are appealing for information about the shooting because the police investigation is being hampered by a lack of co-operation from the victim and his immediate family," says Greg

'The victim is well known to police. He underwent surgery last night and remains in hospital."

People with information are asked to contact Tauranga Police Station on 07 577 4300.

Alternatively, information can be left anonymously via the Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 line.

Who paid for his sugery? Let me guess the long suffering tax payer. He is well known to police so am assuming he was up to no good. He sholud have to pay then...

not cooperating with police why does anyone co operate with them - see how quickly their tune changes when they DONT get the help they need due to lack of 'co operation'. Someone else could have died because there wasn't a response vehicle available because of no hopers like these people....stop helping them let them kill each other off!

Sad state of affairs

It's a sad state of affairs when people think it's OK to "kill each other off" or "paying for surgery". In particular, hospitals do not judge people, they are there to save people regardless of what they may or may not have done or whether or not they are 'known to Police'.

No only the people

who hold their hand out and take take take but never give - they have been helped why not provide some information to the police who came to their aid - it is these sorts of (ill happily say it again) no hopers that give others, like myself, a reason to judge - its a typical version of these are the people who give a bad name to others. They think it is ok to waste police time - I think it is an ok idea to leave them to their own Uncooperativeness.

The funniest part of your comment "hospitals don't judge" they do mate, I have been declined a specialist appointment - their reason "can not find the capacity for me in their packed public health system" but this guy...I pay tax, I cooperate with police, I dont shoot my family - but the hospital have definitely judged me - not due to stupidnes or drunken behaivours but due to the fact I EARN my wages. I have to suffer in pain every single day while these NO HOPERS get doted on. What a lesson for the tax paying - hardworking public. .
