Tauranga Police Sergeant Wayne Hunter says three people were arrested – two who remained at the crash scene and a third who ran from police down Ruahihi Road.

The stolen vehicle was spotted by police on SH29, near Kaimai School, near Soliders Road.

Police say the vehicle failed to stop and a short pursuit entailed, with the vehicle reaching speeds of 120km/h.

The driver lost control of the car and rolled the vehicle several times near Poripori Road.

Police say the driver fled from the crash scene and was later located down Ruahihi Road.

Wayne says there were no injuries as a result of the crash, but an ambulance has been called to one person who had a previous injury from a skateboarding accident.

He says the Mazda had been stolen from Hamilton yesterday.

I don't find your comment amusing Leadhead. Some poor person now has to go without a vehicle because of these thieving hoons! Thank god no-one else was hurt!

Unless your trying to be Donald Trump funny, how can you call boys that firstly stole a car, then failed to stop for police, good boys? Everybody on the road this morning are just lucky these clowns didn't take anyone out!

That's just so adorable of them thinking they could run from the police in a Demio. I'm sure cuddles with mum will make them feel all better soon enough.

It was closer to ruahihi rd. I must of missed the crash by 5 mins. Cop cars everywhere. Looking at the vehicle it's a wonder any one survived. So pleased no other vehicle was involved.

Here we go again. Probably get hit with a "wet bus ticket" after telling everyone they had a poor up bringing, etc, etc. When is this sort of thing going to end before someone is killed. . . . . .

These three had a tough, abused childhood! That gives them the right to pinched a car from Hamilton (bugger the inconvenience caused to the owner), they then drive DOWN hill at a speed, such that the driver cannot control the car at 120km (bugger me 150km on that bit of road for an experienced driver should not be a problem). So does the driver actually have a driving licence? I suggest probably not! Add to it all the DANGER and then inconvenience to the other road users

Maybe....

it would be a good idea for potential car thieves to learn to drive first? I feel sorry for the poor person who had their car pinched... I wonder how the thieves managed to steal such a modern car with modern anti theft devices? Or was the car left with its keys in it? A good reminder to always lock your car I guess? (and not leave it running or with keys in it)?
