The film line-up for the Baypark Drive-In Movie Festival is announced and among the seven titles and opening up the event is Elvis classic Viva Las Vegas.
Also screening at the June 1-6 event is Jaws, Tron Legacy, Dawn of the Dead, ET, Robocop Goodbye Pork Pie and a people’s choice film.

Event organiser Ant Timpson tests out the projector for the Baypark Drive-In Movie Festival.
This is being voted for from: The Goonies, The Spy who Loved Me, Enter the Dragon and Caddyshack – vote for your favourite in the current SunLive opinion poll.
It can also be voted for in-store at the Bayfair Shopping Centre from May 14.
One film will screen each night of the six day event, with a double showing on Friday, June 3 and again on Sunday, June 5.
The films are being shown by special equipment being brought in to project a 30m screen onto the wall of the new Baypark Arena.
Making the drive-in experience all the more nostalgic, concession stands, popcorn, hotdogs, ice creams and waitresses on roller skates will be there.
Baypark business manager Karen Gemell says the six-day event is possible owing to support and brainstorming from local partners SunLive.co.nz, Bayfair Shopping Centre and MoreFM.
The projection equipment is from Panasonic and other special features from Coca Cola will add to the American style drive-in experience.
“It’s been very much about pooling resources and ideas amongst all the companies,” says Karen.
“Panasonic has been instrumental in supplying the equipment to enable us to project the films onto one of the biggest outdoor screens in the country – without them the project would not have the same impact.”
The event has taken four months of planning and is being organised with Ant ‘Filmhead’ Timpson.
He has organised film events in Auckland over the last 20 years and is responsible for starting the 48 Hours Furious Filmmaking competition.

Baypark asks motorists to follow the parking attendants when arriving. Larger vehicles will be directed to park at the rear. The drive-in is not suitable for campervans.
