Big guns clash for shield challenge

Rotorua Boys' High School second XV are set to take on Western Heights High School in their first defence of the Te Kani Shield today.

The holders took back the shield they lost last season, when they beat Bethlehem College first XV 35-13 last weekend.

Rotorua's forwards proved too dominant for Bethlehem who due to injury lacked the experience to overcome the Lakesiders.

The game sees the two big guns of Rotorua Secondary School rugby going head to head. Heights will head down the road to Boys' High in an attempt to take back the shield which they held for just one game last year.

Heights fullback Brodie Wood has been in devastating form this season while Liam Preston and Bailey Gordan have combined well in the halves to be a real threat against Boys' High. Boys' High will again rely on their big and impressive pack to create an attacking platform for their back line attack weapon in Brad Coulson.

The Game will be played at Rotorua Boys' High School No.2 field at 12.00pm.
