Delays on Te Puke road

Eastbound traffic on the Tauranga Eastern Link is being diverted down Truman land while police clear a boat blocking two lanes near the Sandhust Drive overbridge.

The boat came off its trailer shortly before 4.30pm.

A driver at the scene says the four or five metre long boat has come right off its trailer and is blocking both lanes.

Traffic in both directions has slowed.

Must be blind? From the photo, the boat is still 'on' (sort of) the trailer, but the trailer is on its side... a whole different accident from a boat 'falling off a trailer'... An incorrectly loaded trailer (too much weight at the back of the trailer) can make a trailer jump from side to side and tip over like this... If towing trailers this summer (or new to towing trailers)... learn the importance of proper weight distribution. Plenty of info on google and youtube.
