Police are appealing for Peter Frederick Smith to make contact so they know he is safe.

The 62-year-old man was last seen in Auckland on March 26 after he failed to show up for work.

Police say this is out of character for him.

'We believe he may now be in the Whakatane or Whanganui areas,” says an appeal on the Bay of Plenty Police's Facebook page.

'We would like Mr Smith to call in to his local Police station, or if anyone has information about Mr Smith's whereabouts to contact their local Police station.”
