First of all sympathy to the family and our thoughts are with you all at this sad time. Something MUST be done to help these overseas visitors when they are driving in NZ. with the announcement over the last couple of days that NZ will expect thousands of visitors from China, along with other countries we need to start NOW to make their journeys safe and enjoyable. The rental industry in conjunction with Tourism NZ, NZTA and approved driver trainers need to include a brief theory and practical test PRIOR to the visitors picking up their vehicle from the rental company. That won't work I can hear you say BUT this is a start in the right direction, if it saves one life at least achieved something. Yes there is a cost attached but it still would be cheaper than a loss of life or injury, etc.
