$17K win for Tauranga player

A Tauranga Lotto store was one of 13 outlets to sell a winning ticket ahead of Saturday night's live draw.

Greerton Lotto sold the ticket prior to the draw, which saw one player win $17,545.

One Tauranga Lotto player is now $17,545 richer.

Other locations included five stores in Auckland, one in Waipu, Levin, Ashurst, Rangiora, Christchurch, West Coast and Invercargill.

Anyone who bought their ticket from any of these winning stores should write their name on the back of the ticket and check it immediately at any Lotto outlet, online at mylotto.co.nz or through Lotto NZ's ticket-checker smartphone app.

Disgraceful

The lotto is a disgrace to this great nation. The lotto is unjust especially to those of lower income. The statics ensures that 99.9999% of the people who play will never win any life changing amount of money. Basically, the lotto uses physiological warfare in order to extract wealth from the least in our society.

Fraud

@By My Bit - The lotto is a fraud. The advertising/propaganda falsely leads people to believe they can 'win' despite the mathematical impossibility. The monetary system creates a society of desperate people who are easy targets for the Lotto scam. There is ZERO enjoyment from losing the Lotto. 99.9999% of the players are losers and therefore causes practically all players unhappiness and most importantly scamming them out of their money. We should protect people who are unable to understand the mathematical impossibly as most people never took a University Class in probability.

Oh dear...

Good on the Tauranga player. Each to their own. If you don't want to play or cant afford to don't try to deny others who can or want to..

Strawmn

@Me again - your arguments are Strawmen. I have made no other claim except that of the Lotto being a scam. If you think scamming people is OK, than why are there laws against scamming people? Why does the government get a free pass in the scam department?
