Helicopter fuel theft dangerous

Winton police are investigating the theft of jet fuel from Dusky Sound.

Police say between June 1, 2014, and July 21, 2015, an unknown person or persons has removed jet fuel from two jerry cans on a barge in Luncheon Cove, Dusky Sound.

"This fuel was replaced with water and resulted in a helicopter shutting down whilst on the barge after refuelling.

"Had this helicopter shut down whilst in flight the pilot and passengers would have been at substantial risk."
