Victim Train v Cyclist named

Canterbury Police are now able to name the cyclist who died after a collision with a train at the Fendalton Road Railway crossing at about 08.11am this morning (11.02.2016) He is 52 year old Richard Chandler from Christchurch.

The death has been referred to the Coroner. Senior Sergeant Roy Appley says Police investigations are continuing to determine what led to the tragic event occurring.

Mr Chandler is a well known local man and our thoughts are with his family and the other members of our community who were involved in this event, at this sad time.
