TPPA roadshows announced

Tauranga is among the regional centres selected for the government's TPPA roadshows planned for the coming months.

Trade Minister Todd McClay announced the road show circuit yesterday, saying they're for interested members of the public and to assist businesses to identify and plan for new export opportunities.

The first four roadshows will be held in Auckland on March 7, Christchurch on March 11, Dunedin on March 14 and Wellington on March 15. People interested in heading along can register here.

Tauranga, Hamilton, Napier, Palmerston North, New Plymouth, Whangarei and Nelson will be held in following months.

'The roadshows will build on the large amount of information the Government has made available on TPP, including the full text of the Agreement, detailed factsheets and sectoral outcomes, and background analysis,” says Todd.

'Each roadshow will include an overview information session, followed by workshops on specific areas of TPP.

'For businesses, it will be an opportunity to learn about how outcomes in TPP are directly relevant to their areas of speciality and markets, but also to connect with online tools, business groups, and government agencies that can assist their planning for TPP's entry into force.”

One such online tool for TPP was launched today, with the addition of the TPP market access outcomes to the New Zealand tariff finder.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade will also be conducting a number of Hui in February and March to discuss TPPA with Maori.

What If

What if it does not get ratified by American congress and that could be likely as well as other countries this will have been a waste of money.Would it not be prudent to await finalisation of the deal.

Don't protest yet!

Most of those protesters shown on TV did not even know what they were protesting about - they were Sue Bradford's rent-a-crowd! At least wait until you know the whole story. Most were Maori protestors and yet their rights are protected more than the rest of us. They should have stayed at work for the day - it would have been more productive.

Someone has to do it

If everyone waited until someone else ratified it then the Agreement would never happen!
