Have you seen Bee?

They love her like a baby. And she's missing.

Her name is Bee. She is a cheeky, affectionate and playful tri-coloured female beagle who celebrated her first birthday this week. Now the call has gone out from 6,500 kilometres away to find her.

Bee was last seen at a kiwifruit orchard near Athenree. Photo supplied.

Bee belongs to Melissa Taylor, who is presently in California.

The beagle is actually an Auckland-based dog being fostered while Melissa is travelling.

The foster family were visiting a kiwifruit orchard at the Athenree end of State Highway 2 when Bee simply followed her nose over a hill, as beagles do, and hasn't been seen since.

'The support we have had in the search has been overwhelming,” says Melissa from California.

'We're even getting messages of support from people we don't even know.”

Friends and family have been engaged in ground searched since the dog went missing during Anniversary Weekend.

'The response in the Bay of Plenty is beyond anything we could have imagined. We have been blessed in such difficult times.”

'Now we want her safely home,” says Melissa. Bee is microchipped, she has a red collar and a white spot on her back near the base of her tail.
