The body of the 22-year-old was discovered around 3.30pm.

Police are investigating the incident and say the man was one of three swimming in an area known as Trout Pool.

Two other men were rescued from the water and taken to Rotorua Hospital.

One person has suffered serious injuries and the other is described as being in a moderate condition.

The Trout Pool, which is part of the Kaituna River, is a deep mass of water at the bottom of the rapids.

Police say the man's death will be referred to the Coroner.

Meanwhile, Waikato Police are investigating the death of a 16-year-old who was swimming with friends in Raglan.

Senior Sergeant Andrew Townsend says police were notified after the swimmer went missing around 12.15pm.

"It appears a group of teenagers were jumping off the bridge and one has landed on top of the 16-year-old victim, causing him to go under the water.

|Friends and family located the male some 10 minutes later and efforts to revive this person were unsuccessful.

"Police are investigating this matter and our thoughts are with the families during this difficult time."
