From cars to sheep at Te Puke show

Exotic cars, motorbikes, horses, sheep, and home baking all come together the Te Puke A&P Lifestyle's 110th Show on Saturday, February 13.

A new motorbike endurocross event for all age groups from beginners to seniors is bound to draw the crowds at the Te Puke A&P Lifestyle's Show.

The rebranding of the show to include 'Lifestyle” alongside traditional A&P show attractions aims to encourage both urban and rural people to come along for a great fun day out says show secretary Kim Cawte.

The Bay of Plenty Jaguar Club will have an impressive display of vehicles and there will be drag cars and hot rods on display too as well as a new motorbike endurocross event for all age groups from beginners to seniors.

The Rotorua and BOP Hunt Club will be putting on a display and parading around the main ring with their hounds at 12.15pm and there will also be horse and pony rides throughout the day.

Ryan Harris-Hayes will be conducting a hot shoeing farrier demonstration at 10.30am and 12.30pm.

Colette Hintz will once again have a large selection of animals and birds for sale at the pet corner.

'Buskers are encouraged to come to the show and sing – the more the merrier and it is a great day for sharing your vocal talents and reaping the rewards,” says Kim.

The Young Farmers competition will see entrants judging sheep classes in conjunction with the Royal Agricultural Society of NZ. Sheep Racing with a highly entertaining commentary will be held three times throughout the day and is certain to attracted large crowds.

Shearing begins at 10 am and includes classes for seniors, intermediates, juniors and veterans and offers great prizes.

There will be numerous trade sites including: tractors, farming supplies and machinery, promotions, handbags, jewellery, fudge, handcrafted timber goods, and much more with a large selection of food and refreshments including a bar facility onsite.

'Alistair will be bringing his digger machines for Doug the Digger Competitions, so keep a look out for this exciting event. The Ladies Gumboot Throwing Competition is back with great money prizes.”

Entries close at 4pm on Friday, February 12, for both the home industries fair and Hargreaves children's competition, so it is important to deliver entries to the showgrounds by this time.

All exhibits will be at the Home Industries for the public to see until 3.30 pm on show day. For more information phone Jacque 5734005 or Linda 5736680.

Cattle competitions include dairy, Dexter, as well as beef and calf club calves. The Te Puke Fire Brigade will demonstrate what not what to do when you are cooking, and putting on a sausage sizzle.

The Te Puke A&P Lifestyle Show is held on the Te Puke Highway, formerly State Highway 2, at the showgrounds which is opposite Kiwi 360 (east of Te Puke).

Gate entry fees remain the same as in past years - $10 Adult 13 years and older, children $2 and under five's free, as well as a family pass for two adults and four children only $25.

'As the show is run voluntarily and entertainment comes at a price, it is important that these fees are maintained to keep this show running for the community.”
