Marlborough Police have removed the body from a car found burning in a lay-by off State Highway 1 at Tuamarina yesterday evening.
The body will be transported to Christchurch for a post mortem examination.
The post mortem is expected to take place on Tuesday.
The investigation into the cause of the fire continues and at this stage the cause is yet to be established.
