Sun shines on One Love

Rain hasn't gotten in the way of the One Love Festival being held at the Tauranga Domain this afternoon.

Day one of the two day concert has seen great Kiwi bands such as Herbs, Kora and Nesian Mystik and international performer Collie Buddz take to the stage.

Too Loud

This event has been far too loud! As much as I support vibrant events like this in the Bay - I do not think the surrounding residents should have their weekend completely ruined by the excessively loud music generated by this type of event. I live over 4 kms away from this event & the volume is unbearable, I can only imagine how bad it must be for people who live closer - It would be more acceptable if the event was only for a few hours, but for two days from 12pm-10pm - this is unacceptable - totally ruined my long anticipated relaxing weekend at home!

with paci, likewise I am 4 kms away, locked windows didn't help. I know if I tried that volume at my place gear would be confiscated very quickly. I feel sorry for residents much closer. Volume didn't need winding up on several occasions, was already too loud. Cannot be good for hearing for attendees. Good to see such an event here, but such volume is just not acceptable, any way you look at it. What happened to approved decibel limit, or doesn't that apply to visiting entertainers?

We live in Bethlehem and thought it was a wedding gig at Mills Reef winery. Couldn't hear the television at one stage.

Crazy!!

Posted on 07-02-2016 10:55 | By Yeah right!

We could hear this concert in Te Puna, it's just crazy that this was allowed to be so loud... I have nothing against having concerts and fun, but did it need to be that loud?

Stop winging

I live in Selwyn St. Second St next to the park no one lives closer. Yes we heard the concert we heard a crowd having a great night. It was blocked by closing the door. The best thing I heard was life in this dull city. Long may it continue. This city has been dull so long we are getting precious about it.

Noise!!!!

Posted on 07-02-2016 11:01 | By Jimmy Ehu

No issue there, as it was all over by 10.00, it's the after match function at CBD residents expense that gets me, I do not take kindly to drunken louts threatening me at 4.00am as they wreck street signs, or my property being used as a open air "potty", or my neighbour telling me of males flagrantly exposing themselves, and she was supposed to think it was funny!!!,

No Love !

Believe me there was not much love shown to the thousands of people who had to put up with this NOISE (not music!!)until 10.30pm!! Nothing kept out the noise 6 kms from this venue - even ear plugs didn't help! Why were the organisers allowed to have the volume so loud - it couldn't possibly have been legal at those decibels? Noise controls should be in place for future festivals and policed accordingly!

Council dealing with the noise ?? !!

Posted on 07-02-2016 13:39 | By Mackka

Having just rung the 'middle' person re noise complaints - I was told to lodge the complaint and it will be taken up with the council on Tuesday!! What !!! After further prompting I was told that after the complaints received yesterday - the council has the matter in hand. Yeah right!! We will wait and see how effective they are today - Sunday. If it carries on like it did yesterday it should be a matter for the police.

TOO LOUD TOO IGNORANT

I can only agree with the too loud comments! Obviously the "council man" who approved this event hasn't got a clue that ALL OF TAURANGA don't have lovely little 9-5 jobs. Some folk actually require sleep during the day so they can complete their night shifts!! Council GET REAL!

bring out the fun police

Interesting wording by paci "type of event". This event had given plenty of notice of its venue so why didn't you moaners lodge a petition to stop it. Not a great fan of reggae but the noise wasn't even that bad. Turn a fan on in your room next year so your neighbour doesn't hear you crying.
