Tiki’s new song a tribute to Bay

One of Bay of Plenty's top singer/songwriters Tiki Taane launches his latest effort and it has a real home flavour to it.

The multi-platinum artist and producer returns with a song celebrating hometown New Zealand and it includes famous friends and Papamoa's Tahatai Coast School choir.

Christchurch born, Tiki has no problem promoting the Bay of Plenty where he now lives. He invited about 30 media from Auckland last Sunday, to a private performance to promote the region and his new single No Place Like Home.

Tiki, who has lived in Papamoa for the last six years, says when you have a title like his latest single, it's only right you launch that song from the beautiful Bay of Plenty.

Penned in appreciation of the places that mean the most to him, the single was launched Friday and in an apt acknowledgement of his local community, all proceeds will be donated to Tauranga charity Good Neighbour.

'When I think of home, I think of whanau, friends and Aotearoa. I think of the people and places that mean the most to me. For me, home is not only the places I've lived but also where my bones are from.

'I'm of Ngati Maniapoto descent so I feel at home in Waitomo as much as I do in my birth town of Christchurch… I'm proud to call the Bay of Plenty, Te Moana O Toi, my home too.”

Tiki says he has combined his experiences of living throughout New Zealand to inspire him to create his latest single.

'A song that not only represents the Bay of Plenty and the people within but also connects with all Kiwi no matter where you are from.”

He says the song is also a community effort with friends like Ria Hall, Pouroto Ngaropo and Tahatai Coast School to name a few who took part in the single.

'It's been an incredible journey pulling in all the musicians and performers who feature in the song and to have the support from iwi and Bay of Plenty locals has been monumental for this project's existence.”

No Place like home is available for purchase and streaming across all digital platforms from Friday (February 5).
