Two games in three days

Western Bay of Plenty Reserve Grade players have another full schedule during the holiday weekend, with competition games again on both Saturday and Monday.

Te Puke have fashioned an unbeaten start to the Reserve Grade Championship and sit alone astride to the top of the standings.

On Saturday, they square off with fourth placed Geyser City Sports at the Te Puke Domain, before backing up against archrivals Cadets on Monday.

Chris Rowe, Cameron Riley and Raminder Singh have been in good for with the ball for Te Puke and will be keen to add to their bowling scalps during the long weekend matches.

Sitting in second place in the standings are Tauranga Boys' College, who have posted solid wins over the Sangha XI and Mount Maunganui since the start of the championship title race.

Last weekend, Kinnon Nelson ripped through the Mount Maunganui batting attack to grab six wickets at a cost of 20 runs.

On Saturday, the Tauranga students will have a stern test against Cadets before sitting out the bye on Monday.

Greerton faltered a little in their quest of the Western Bay Championship to go with their First Round title when they were beaten by the Sangha XI last weekend.

Greerton will meet Whakatane United on a neutral ground at Blake Park in round five, with the Eastern Bay side bringing plenty of firepower to the encounter.

Alex Yates and Hamish Wilde sit in first and third place in the Reserve Championship batting stakes, with Hamish Wilde second on bowling scalps chase.

Sitting top of the bowling stakes is Sikh Sports Gurwinder Singh, who has taken 11 wickets, with season best figures of five wickets for just 6 runs.

The Indian team will play Aquinas College on Saturday before facing Geerton two days later.

There could be a battle royal between Mount Maunganui and Katikati, who are both languishing in unfamiliar positions well down the standings.

Both sides will be motivated to win with the victor moving closer to a top four berth.

A top of the table clash awaits Mount Maunganui and Cadets in Saturdays B Grade round robin play.

Mount Maunganui are the defending B Grade champions, with Cadets credentials including this seasons WBOPCA First Round crown.

Grasshoppers and Wanderers, who have both won the B Grade championship title in recent seasons, could battle until late in the day before a result is declared at Mitchell Park.

Last season's beaten finalist in the Singh XI will be favoured to defeat Albion, however, the Fergusson Park based team have shown glimpses of form and could provide the Te Puke region team with a real battle.
