LSD and meth seized in stop

A routine stop lead to one couple being arrested after LSD and methamphetamine were located in their vehicle.

An officer had stopped the couple on Avalon Drive, Hamilton, just before 1am yesterday. Acting Senior Sergeant Dale Smith says the driver was identified as being in breach of his release conditions and the officer then decided the man had parked the car in an unsafe place.

A couple is facing drug charges following a routine stop in Hamilton. File photo.

'Asking the female passenger to step out of the car so it could be moved, one sharp eyed Constable noticed a point bag on the passenger's seat.

'This was sufficient to commence a search under the Search and Surveillance act and a short time later a small container containing about 4.9gms of methamphetamine was found hidden in the woman's shoe.”

Dale says as the search continued other drugs and paraphernalia were recovered.

'Items seized in addition to the methamphetamine included cash, drug utensils and a quantity of LSD.

'The male was charged with breach of his release conditions while both occupants of the car were jointly charged with possession of methamphetamine for supply, possession of LSD and possession of utensils. It just goes to show that even in the low light of the early morning a sharp eye is invaluable.”
