A 17-year-old Mount Maunganui girl has serious injuries after crashing her motorbike at a motocross event yesterday.
The Tauranga based Trustpower TECT Rescue helicopter was dispatched to the motocross event near Matata in the Eastern Bay of Plenty about 1pm yesterday.
Pilot Liam Brett Kelly says the teenager sustained hip, shoulder and lower back injuries as a result of a heavy crash. She was flown to Tauranga Hospital in a serious condition. The rider was reported to be in a stable condition today.
