Tempting delights at market

Papamoa's Hayley-Marie Bilton is showcasing her cooking skills with an array of culinary delights at the Tauranga Farmers Market.

From MasterChef to market, Hayley-Marie cooked up an orange, vinegar hollandaise on seared fish as just one of her treats.

Zara Groves was the first person to try the dish.

'It was yummy and sugary.” The four-year-old says Hayley is her favourite person from MasterChef.

When asked why she came to the Tauranga Farmers Market, Zara says she 'always comes to the market” and that the 'sausage sizzles are her favourite part of market”.

Zara says she wants to be a chef, among other things, when she grows up.

'I want to be a doctor, a waitress, a princess, a pirate and a spy.

'My favourite food is macaroni.”

Speaking to SunLive, Hayley is grateful the sun has come out for her cooking demonstration today.

'I was devastated when I woke up this morning because it was raining again, but I was coming down rain or shine.

'There is a good turn out here today as well.”

Hayley cooked a fish dish, flat breads and showed kids how easy it is to make their own pizza bread, as well as a healthy version of potato salad.

'I'm going to end on some ciabatta with pea pesto and some chargrilled vegetables. I'm here until about 11am.

'I've got people of all ages here, I even have my grandad who came from Rotorua here. There's all sorts of people here.”

While today's demonstration is a one off, Hayley hopes to be able to get back down to the market in January when there's more seasonal produce around.
