The road is reported to be blocked, but there is no-one trapped in the vehicles.

Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager Senior Sergeant Ian Campion says: "Both eastbound lanes are blocked after a large tree came down.

"There are a number of vehicles under the tree and we're working on establishing how many.

"Diversions will be put in place and we urge motorists traveling from Papamoa to Te Puke to be aware and avoid the area if possible."

Council have been informed and people are being asked to use an alternative route until the tree has been cleared from the scene.

We will bring you more information soon.

Its not the future it was in the now, anyone that has looked at these trees would see that the branches have fatigue around the base and way too much overhang at the top, quite often we see the upper foliage get tangled on piggy-backed truck trailers. As for them reading into the future they must be fairly good at it when they charge us for things on our rates we don't have yet!

I drive thru town quite often with my trailer up. I can assure you the bolsters do not touch the trees. Mine are the maximum height and not a leaf is touched. Your dreaming mate!
