Northern Fire Communications shift manager Daniel Nicholson says the building, near Chadwick Road, was well involved when crews arrived.

'They requested for more man power and there ended up being about five trucks. Two from Greerton, two from Tauranga and one from Mount Maunganui.”

The blaze in the single storey, 10m x 13m building saw police cordoned off the section of the road as firefighters dealt with the fire.

Daniel says the crews spent most of the early morning at the scene with the Greerton crew leaving just before 7am.

'They were on standby to make sure the fire is out.

'There is no indication to what caused the fire. We have a fire safety officer going to the scene this morning.”
