A super stock car event at Baypark Stadium scheduled for this weekend has been cancelled due to predicted bad weather.

The race meeting, which was due to feature round one of the $15,000 "BIG 3" stock car series, has been pulled amid reports that heavy rain and wind is set to hit the Bay of Plenty on Saturday evening.

Baypark Family Speedway director Bernie Gallon says: 'Unfortunately, due to the shocking weather forecast, I have decided to cancel tomorrow's event.

'Hopefully the weather on the December 12 (for super stock teams racing) will treat us more kindly.”
