Fighting for our natural resources

Thank heavens for people such as R Bishop, who not only has a sound knowledge of New Zealand history, but is also sending out a clarion call to the silent majority to lift their heads out of the sand and be aware that part-Maori tribes are holding out an ultimatum to the Government that they are given co-governance or total control over our freshwater by which they will undoubtedly try and make financial gain John Key categorically stated: 'No-one owns the water.”

Now he is trying to back down and give in to part-Maori pressure by passing the buck to local councils who will deal with the issue behind closed doors. We all know what that means – councillors scared stiff they will be called ‘racist' sitting across the table from belligerent part-Maori demanding what they erroneously consider ‘their rights' because they allege they were here first. Well, they weren't and they are forgetting that under the terms of the Treaty of Waitangi, New Zealand became another colony of England, under British law.

The Treaty gave Maori control over their land, which they were given permission to sell through the Crown (which they did with gusto) but no mention of water because no one in their right mind would think anyone ‘owned' a natural resource which is always changing and there for all to use during their lifetime.

Instead of wasting millions messing about with the flag, John Key should stand by his statement that no one owns the water and send out a referendum inviting all New Zealanders to democratically vote on this vital matter.

Water rights ads in the paper

Posted on 22-11-2015 16:17 | By SiouxLioux

Let's hope anyone with any sense will check out the info that has appeared in the local papers about Water and how local body authorities are secretly doing "deals" with a chosen few so certain segregated groups have control over a resource that was put on this planet for the use of EVERYONE. NO-ONE owns the sea, airwaves, fresh water, flora and fauna etc. We all have an interest in these things because they affect us all.

traitors

Posted on 23-11-2015 10:44 | By Captain Sensible

The iwi mafia's claims are limited only by their imagination. Key and Finlayson are traitors, there can be no question about that.

And your claims cap'n

Posted on 24-11-2015 08:43 | By robin bell

are limited only by your unbelievable prejudice, and lack of originality. You and sue magoo should put up your evidence of "traitors" and "deals" c'mon lets see it. Robin Bell.

Please Robin, why do you persist in your deny, deny, deny childish antics when presented with evidence? For many years I have told you about rights & privileges only available to maori. I have asked you for one, just one race based legal privilege that is only available to non-maori and thus denied to maori. I am still waiting!! Most people think being treated as second class because of skin colour/blood lines is not acceptable. Any government that discriminates against 85% of kiwis on race, is indeed traitorous to the majority. Anyway, I guess my wait for your reply, already three years waiting so far, is still no closer!!

So cap'n your evidence

Posted on 24-11-2015 13:55 | By robin bell

once again is abstract nonsense. You claim John Key and Chris Finlayson are traitors to 85% of kiwis, based on what? You make the claims YOU have to give up the evidence, but you can't, you never have and never will.Your repeated self pity and I'M the victim rubbish has no grounds in FACT whatsoever. Don't try turning the tables on me cap'n,face up to your own inadequacies. Robin Bell.

For three years I have posted evidence of race based privileges not available to non-maori. Do I really have to do it again? OK, last time; Special scholarships that are for maori only. University places that are held for maori only despite having lower grades than unsuccessful non-maori candidates. Special funding for maori only for insulating homes. Special requirements for maori only to pass university courses, despite non-maori requiring higher grades to pass. Special funding for maori only prison programmes. Maori only allowed to issue permits that allow maori to plunder our seafood resources. Maori only rugby and sports teams. Special maori-only wards in hospitals. There are almost 200 documented maori only privileges and rights that us non-maori can not have (still waiting for you to name one....just one race based privilege not available to maori but only available to non-maori....been waiting over three years now!!!!).

another one for Robin to deny

Posted on 25-11-2015 10:13 | By Captain Sensible

And another important example of race based anti-democratic maori privilege is unelected maori getting onto councils because they are maori. This undemocratic privilege is NOT available to anybody else. Exclusively for maori only! Or are you going to deny that one as well Robin? Honestly, explaining this stuff to Robin Bell is like trying to convince a caveman that the earth is not flat.

Race based resentment,

Cap'n is that all you can come up with? Scholarships for Maori are societies way of helping lift Maori education levels,it benefits everyone.More wealth for the nation less dependency.Same with tertiary education. Home insulation subsidies improve the health of those who otherwise could not afford it. Saving the tax payer and improving the social comfort of all involved. How can these things be seen as privilege? Kaupapa wards significantly improve recovery times for seriously sick people, saving in hospital bed costs. Where is your heart man? in your wallet? Marae based seafood permits are in recognition of customary title. Some abuse it, as we see today, but we also see how it is Policed, contrary to your claims. Bring on the rest cap'n I can't wait.

I will not be typing out the approx 200 race based privileges only available to maori, and thus discriminating against non-maori. You have seen the ones I have already mentioned and you have agreed that they are real....but then bizarrely try to justify them!!!! What about all the needy non-maori....there are no race based handouts for them! Anyway, can you give me some idea as to how much longer I must wait for you to name one, just one, race based privilege that is only available to non-maori, thus discriminating against maori? I have been waiting for over three years now for you to come up with one!!!!!

Race

Posted on 27-11-2015 08:42 | By robin bell

It may have escaped your narrow mind cap'n,but this nation was formed by two different races. Most law passed since then has been "race based"The majority race being the non Maori. It was inevitable that given the indifference shown to Maori these laws favoured the majority unfairly. The term "race based " was never used, but that is what it amounted to.That you and your fellow extremists now use the term to indoctrinate the gullable, as witnessed in Mary Brooks letter, shows a level of prejudice that is only contained by your glaring lack of progress .I've already commented on your dubious ability to find privilege in poverty, suffice to say,I look forward to your next cynical accusations with relish. Robin Bell.

Time for a history lesson

Posted on 27-11-2015 13:41 | By Captain Sensible

Robin, tell us what the laws were in pre-european NZ!! There were none, but your reply should be good for a laugh. Now, you have had three years to come up with a race based privilege/right/favour that discriminates against maori by only benefitting non-maori. Surely you have found one by now!!!! When the hundreds of chiefs signed the treaty, that's because they wanted to...there was no gun to their head. They knew european style law and order was better for them than rampant murder, cannibalism, and perpetually living in fear of an attack. This is documented. Are you going to deny that as well?

Not worth debating

It is great to see that this further nonsense from Mary Brooks is not worth debating. We have moved on. Mary and Captain Sensible have not.

I challenge you to prove me wrong. Your good mate Robin 'deny' Bell can't. Can you? Facts please, not vague drivel.
