Hot wheels for a cool day

There was plenty for petrol heads to feast their eyes on at this year's Bay of Plenty Mustang Club's annual Extreme Automotive All USA Car Day.

The event, which sees various makes of Mustangs and American-built cars put on display at Wharepai Domain, will be held again today.

Club member Graham Coombes says one of the features of the day was a brand new Shelby Mustang Super Snake. It's the top of the line Mustang. The club also celebrated the 50th Anniversary for Carrol Shelby who had input into the designing of the AC Cobra and later the Shelby Mustangs.

'Ford made the Mustang then they looked to Carrol Shelby to make a racing Mustang. Then they made production Shelby Mustangs after that.”

Along with the Mustangs there were a number of other American style cars as well as hot-rods. The event is held annually and always draws a large crowd.
