Fleeing driver involved in crash

At about 7.20pm in Invercargill, a 17-year-old driver of a Mitsubishi Lancer ignored Police requests to stop.

He had two passengers with him.

The driver travelled at speed north on Rockdale Road but collided with another vehicle at the intersection with Tweed Street.

The 49-year-old female driver of the vehicle hit was treated by Ambulance staff at the scene for minor injuries and later transported to Southland Hospital for further checks.

One of the two passengers from the offending vehicle sustained moderate injury and is also at Southland Hospital.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged.

Enquiries are ongoing into this fleeing driver's actions but at this time Police can confirm he is a disqualified driver.
