Creepy Trade Me auctions revealed

Warning: This article may cause a loss of appetite.

We all know there's some weird stuff available on the internet, right? But honestly, what would you do with a jar of toenails?

Toenails, dog testicles and gallstones are some of the creepiest auctions listed on Trade Me.

Trade Me pulled down the listing for Justin Bieber's saliva, but this was on the tamer end of the loco scale when it comes to products people hope to auction off.

In general you can't sell body parts or fluids, or anything "gross" which the bidding community would object to. You could also be breaking the law.

Here are some strange listings you didn't see:

A FROZEN AMPUTATED LEG

A 42-year-old diabetic European offered up his amputated limb to highlight the difficulties of surviving on a sickness benefit.

Asking for $3000 for the right leg, he hoped to help his brother and daughter, who also had diabetes, with the proceeds. The limb was cut off below the knee as a result of his condition.

The foot was missing one toe and the heel had a small hole in it due to an ulcer. "The leg is approx 12 months old since amputation and is stored frozen," the listing said. Trade Me have said some other unlucky sellers have tried to hawk their amputated body parts after a trip to the hospital.

DOG'S TESTICLES

"For the person who has everything... a fresh pair of dog's testicles to call your very own," read this unique listing. The seller said the canine balls were only six months old and "lovingly preserved in something poisonous".

Poor pooch "Toby" would benefit from the sale - his owners would be able to fence their yard as he kept escaping.

The testicles would be a gentle reminder to the men in your life to behave themselves, the page said. Asking price: $1200.

CAT'S TESTICLES

Not keen on canine? Might fancy feline balls instead. They're more of a bargain, with the seller listing the set with a $1 reserve.

The donor, a ginger cat called Winky, was outlived by his dangly bits, which had been "preserved in formalin to maintain full potency and may be the answer to your fertility woes".

OK, we're not quite sure how that works.

But apparently Winky "had an air of 'ninja' about him and I'd say he'd be a force to be reckoned with as a ghost 'ninja' cat", according to his owner.

A KIDNEY

"We live in a user pays society," wrote this seller, who wanted to give someone in need of a kidney a "chance at life" - for $700,000. You could have your choice of left or right, as long as you covered all medical costs, travel etc. etc.

GALLSTONES

"Hardly any one sells gallstones," the seller of these wrote. Really? Well, such rarity certainly incurs a high price - $850.

The price was based on the amount of pain caused, which was 9.9 out of 10 according to the sufferer.

Standing at two centimetres long by one centimetre high and shaped like a mini football, this seller wrote about the bladder mass as if it was a diamond.

"The chances of you ever being able to purchase another gallstone (especially such a prize specimen as this) are very, very slim."

A JAR OF TOENAILS

Freshly cut, mind you, however the seller said there was some slight residue of red nail polish.

"Middle toenail from right foot has been cut slightly crooked, but otherwise, clippings in excellent condition."

You can even pre-order the keratin cuttings, should you wish: "Come 1st September more will be available, so register your interest now!" The asking price? $5.

Apart from being used to scare a date from your house, I can't think of anything use these clippings could be good for.

However from a quick search online, it seems a few people like to save their toenails and store them away for a rainy day. It took a 58-year-old in the US two years to fill a box - from then he was hooked to the hobby.

NATALIA KILLS & WILLIE MOON'S HOTEL SHEETS

Known more for their talent show drama rather than talent, this musical couple couldn't escape the limelight during their island holiday. After a stay at a small hotel in Rotorua, the manager listed on Trade Me the bedding that the pair had slept on, with a starting price of $500.

As expected, Natalia Kills was angry.

The hotel manager said it was just a joke, and he'd forgotten to remove the auction.

It didn't matter anyway - no one made any bids.

OTHER WEIRD STUFF ON TRADE ME

- Gypsy's tooth

- Stitches from a brain operation

- Other amputated body parts
