The owners of the Athenree Pancake House will be looking to reconstruct their chimney after a fire at the premises overnight.

Athenree Fire Brigade was called to the Pancake House on State Highway 2 after receiving reports at around 7.20pm.

Northern Fire Communications shift manager Daniel Nicholson says there was a small fire in the chimney.

'We deconstructed the chimney and dampened down hot spots, and double checked to make sure the fire was out,” says Daniel.

'There was no other structural damage, it was all in the chimney.”

Once the crew was happy the fire was out, Daniel says firefighters left the scene in the hands of the owners.
