Curry to lead Sevens team

Bay of Plenty's Scott Curry has been named as captain of the New Zealand Development Team to compete at this year's Noosa International Sevens.

The 14 strong squad includes Rotorua sensation Isaac Te Aute who are the only two players from the Bay to be selected.

Noosa International Sevens, which is sanctioned by Oceania Rugby, features 46 men's and women's teams including teams from Fiji, New Caledonia, the German national team and teams from around Australia.

The team who are currently training in Auckland depart on Wednesday to take part in the two day tournament which kicks off on Saturday October 10.

The New Zealand Development Team features a core of experienced All Blacks Sevens players, the return of Luke Masiwera who featured in the 2013/14 HSBC series and several newcomers including Isaac.

New Zealand men's and women's development teams will also take part in the upcoming Central Coast Sevens tournament in New South Wales which takes place 24, 25 October.
