Bay building booming

Tauranga City Council issued the highest value of consents since Priority One records began 12 years ago for the nine months to September 2015.

The same goes for the combined value of the Western Bay sub-region, which includes Tauranga city plus the Western Bay district.

Western Bay's consent values totalled $106.7 million for the first nine months of this year, but they have yet to reach the heights of 2007, which saw $118.5 million worth of consents issued.

Tauranga City Council achieved four new two-year highs for the consents issued in September.

The total value of consents issued was $81.1 million, while the total number of consents issued was 234. Alongside these figures, the value of single dwelling consents issued was $37.0 million, with the number of single dwelling consents issued at 110.

Western Bay also had a record setting month, issuing the highest value of consents ($20.5 million). In addition, they achieved good results in terms of the number of consents issued (107) – just two short of a record.

The value of single dwelling consents is just $775k less than the two year record, with a strong $4.9 million in commercial consents.

The $81.1 million September consents value for Tauranga City is more than twice the $37.6 million in consents issued in September 2014. This marks a new two-year high and is the highest recorded value since June 2006.

The total number of consents was 234 – again, well ahead of last month's 217 and the 162 consents issued in September a year ago. This is also a new two-year high.

Single dwelling consents, including multi-unit dwellings, were valued at $37 million, while September's commercial consents are valued at $26.6 million.

I wonder what the value of delayed consents is in TCC The "standard" is processing in 20 working days but TCC (even with the help of other Councils) is taking nearly double this presently.
