Waikato did what no other team had managed to do in the Bay's first three games and scored a try – but in return they leaked 48 points against the blue and gold.

It means the Bay of Plenty lead Section B on 20 points, followed by Auckland West, Waikato, Counties and Taranaki.

In Section A defending champions Auckland East lead with 15 points followed by hosts Northland, North Harbour, King Country and Thames Valley.

Auckland East were merciless against King Country, winning 130-0, while Auckland West were given a scare by Counties before edging the match 26-20.

North Harbour, however, found the going much easier, brushing Northland aside 32-5.

Today's matches sees Auckland East going up against Thames Valley and North Harbour taking on King Country.

Elsewhere, Waikato clash with Auckland West and Taranaki play Counties Manukau. Northland and the Bay have both have byes.

The Bay are likely to meet North Harbour in the semi-finals on Friday – providing Harbour beat King Country today.

Auckland East will face off against the winners of the Auckland West versus Taranaki fixture.

The loser from that game will go up against Northland, while Thames Valley and Taranaki will get the bye and play-off against each other on Sunday.
