The man is reported to have suffered moderate injuries and has been taken to Thames Hospital.
Northern Fire Communications shift manager Colin Underdown says a car and truck collided, leaving the driver of the car trapped.
The driver was extricated from the vehicle and placed into the care of an ambulance.
It's understood he was the only one in the car.
Colin says the driver of the truck, which was not hauling anything, was not injured in the incident.
A tow truck was called to remove the vehicles.
