Home invasion vehicle found

A day on from the violent attack of a man in his Matamata home, Waikato Police are working with their Bay of Plenty colleagues after the recovery of a vehicle of interest overnight.

Detective Senior Sergeant Graham Pitkethley says the victim of yesterday's attack had been released from hospital and is recovering at home.

'A scene examination of the Sylvan Place property, where the 1.55am attack took place, was completed yesterday as was the interviewing of witnesses and some persons of interest,” says Graham.

'Overnight, police in Rotorua located a white Subaru Legacy of interest to our inquiry team and an examination of that car and an interview of the male driver are being conducted today.

'That being said, this was a serious assault and we would ask that those involved, or anyone who knows the location of those involved, to make contact with police before matters escalate further.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Graham at the Matamata Police Station on: 07 858 6200.

Alternatively, information can be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on: 0800 555 111.
