A 4.4 magnitude earthquake has been felt across parts of the lower North Island this morning.
The strong quake hit 5km south-east of Eketahuna, between Palmerston North and Masterton.

Dozens of people took to social media to report feeling the quake, which occurred at a depth of 15km.
GeoNet have confirmed that the quake struck at 7:52am.
